Snowdonia Quarries Autumn Workshop

Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November 2016 - 2 SPACES LEFT

On each of my workshops in Snowdonia so far we have visited one of the vast slate quarry complexes for at least a few hours. They have proved to be a hugely popular aspect of the workshop and the common theme is that most people have wanted to explore them for much longer. They offer an almost unique opportunity to be super creative with details whilst appreciating wide vistas.
This workshop will be run in two halves on each day. Sunrises will not be a priority so we’ll have a hearty breakfast (included) at a civilised time before departing for one of the quarries for the morning. After a break for lunch (also included) at a nearby café (or if more suitable, provided by me) we’ll head to a new area of the same quarry (these are vast places) or visit another quarry elsewhere in Snowdonia, shooting right through until Golden Hour and Sunset. If possible we’ll try to gain height in order to take best advantage of that time of day, possibly to an easy summit. The format will be the same for the second day too. Don’t worry though, there is so much to explore, we won’t be visiting the same parts of any quarry twice!
There are three (3) spaces available for this workshop at a price of £299*.
*Excludes accommodation, drinks and evening meals.

On the technical front it is expected that participants will know the basics of their chosen equipment but I do have knowledge of Canon, Sony and Fuji systems.

Occasionally during the day I will also be shooting myself as feedback suggests that sharing my vision through my own set-up is a very good aid to learning for participants, however, at all times I will be on hand and moving between each participant in turn offering advice when needed.

On the Saturday night we will aim to have a pub meal in Capel Curig (not included). If you’d like to join me for that please make sure you say so on your booking enquiry so that we can include numbers when booking a table. We can also use this time to discuss our images from the day.

Sample Itinerary

We shall adapt the workshop and the locations to suit the conditions, time of year and participants but for a rough idea of what to expect, here is a sample itinerary.

9.30am – Arrive first quarry location and explore local area

12.30pm – Lunch

Throughout the day I will be on hand to offer advice on how to shoot in mountainous environments and to answer or point out any safety concerns. Participants should expect to return to the car about an hour after sunset.
