WORKSHOP GRADING
As the majority of the locations I visit on workshops require some degree of walking, I’ve decided to grade them to give people an idea of what they should expect and to help them to determine whether the workshop is right for them. Therefore, my workshops will be graded as follows:
* - Very Easy – Photo locations will be close to the road/parking or within 15 minutes easy walk. Low fitness required.
** - Easy – Photo locations will be a combination of close to the road/parking or up to one (1) hour moderate hiking and over short sections of steep terrain. Reasonable fitness required.
*** - Moderate – Photo locations will be a reasonable distance from the car and may require a hike of up to three (3) hours over rough and steep terrain. Reasonable fitness required. (NB. Day long photowalks in the Peak District are all typically considered Moderate)
**** - Difficult – Photo locations will be a long way from the car and walks will generally last all day, perhaps returning long after dark. Terrain will range from easy to rough and steep but distances will be long (8+ miles). Good fitness required.
***** - Very Difficult – This difficulty rating is reserved for extremely mountainous routes and/or multi-day backpacking trips. Reasonable prior experience of this type of endeavour is expected. Terrain will be difficult and packs are likely to be reasonably heavy. Very good fitness required.
